Behind the Scenes - Facade Cleaning in Pandan Industrial Area: Technical Overview
In anticipation of our upcoming hydrojetting drone deployment at the Pandan Industrial Area in Singapore, our team conducted comprehensive test flights and system calibrations. By identifying and overcoming key operational challenges, we have ensured both our drone and crew are fully prepared to deliver efficient and precise results.

Challenges & Technical Solutions
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance
Challenge: Operating in a controlled industrial zone requires compliance with Singapore’s aviation and industrial regulations. Beyond obtaining general regulatory approvals, we also needed to coordinate with our client’s control room staff for site-specific protocols, and rigorously follow internal preflight checklists covering calibration, arming procedures, and drone integrity.
Solution:
Regulatory Approvals: We initiated the clearance process well in advance with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), secured authorizations from JTC, and obtained RSAF clearance due to the controlled airspace. This proactive approach ensured all necessary permits were in place before commencing operations.
Client Coordination: Early engagement with the client’s control room allowed us to integrate their safety requirements into our operational plan. We scheduled synchronized communication during flight operations to maintain situational awareness and adhere to site-specific constraints.
Preflight Protocols: Prior to each test flight, our team conducted detailed preflight inspections—calibrating the RTK system, checking battery levels, verifying motor integrity, confirming tight connections, and ensuring no loose wiring or frame components. By following a strict checklist, we mitigated potential malfunctions and maintained a high safety standard.
Weather Constraints
Challenge: Unpredictable weather in Singapore—ranging from sudden rainstorms to shifting wind conditions—can affect drone flight performance and hydrojetting accuracy.
Solution: We performed multiple test flights at varied times and conditions, using real-time data to refine our flight parameters. Predictive weather tools guided the selection of optimal launch windows, ensuring stable operation and reliable cleaning outcomes.
Drone Stability & RTK Signal Integration
Challenge: Precise facade cleaning demands steady flight and pinpoint positional accuracy. Any instability or RTK signal drift could compromise cleaning quality.
Solution: Implementing a dedicated RTK calibration kit provided centimeter-level precision for our flight path. Adjusting the drone’s weight distribution improved stability, minimizing vibrations and ensuring the hydrojetting nozzle remained consistently aligned with the target surface.
Next Steps
With comprehensive permitting secured, on-site protocols established, environmental factors considered, and the drone fully optimized, we are poised to execute the façade cleaning operation at Pandan Industrial Area. Our next update will share real-world performance results, key takeaways, and further insights into how advanced drone technology is revolutionizing industrial cleaning.
Stay tuned for our post-operation report, where we’ll detail the drone’s on-site performance, measurable efficiency gains, and the long-term benefits of integrating cutting-edge UAV solutions into industrial maintenance processes.
Team and Execution
Under the leadership of our principal veteran Wee Han-Meng, with Project Lead Jensen Lim, Coordinators Vinod, Mesbah, and our drone engineering specialists, we transformed weeks of planning, regulatory coordination, technical refinement, and thorough testing into a ready-to-deploy solution.
